Rapid Power Management believes that all people and companies are obligated to the communities in which they participate. As such, RPM actively pursues volunteer opportunities that enable each employee, and the company as a whole, to exemplify our values through action.
Special Camps for Special Kids seeks to improve camping programs for children with chronic illnesses or major physical disabilities. In 1987, this group organized the resident Camp John Marc to provide valuable life experiences in natural outdoor settings to these special kids and their siblings.
Camp John Marc, south of Cleburne, Texas, hosts children with similar challenges almost every week of the year so that activities can be tailored to provide the most benefit to each child. Brad Keating participated in providing wheelchairs and supplies to a camp session dedicated to children with Spina Bifida, a permanently disabling birth defect.
To participate, please visit www.campjohnmarc.org, where you will also find some truly inspirational photos and stories.
Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit international organization that has built over 175,000 homes for over 900,000 people since its inception in 1979. Habitat provides simple, decent and affordable housing for those who lack adequate shelter. The housing is made affordable because Habitat sells the home at cost, with no interest mortgages. Additionally, habitat uses volunteer labor and funding from various individuals, corporations and community organizations. By the end of 2005, Habitat homes will shelter 1 million people.
Rapid Power Management employees participate in home building sessions as a company, we also include our spouses and families. This is a great opportunity to provide the community with a much needed service while team-building within our organization. To learn more, visit www.habitat.org.
Carter Blood Care provides blood and blood components to 245 healthcare facilities in 28 Texas counties. Carter Blood is also a sponsoring blood center of The National Marrow Donor Program® (NMDP). The National Marrow Donor Program helps patients with leukemia and other life-threatening blood diseases locate the best source of stem cells for marrow or blood stem cell transplantation. The NMDP is a resource for information about unrelated marrow, cord blood, and peripheral blood stem cell transplantation.
Rapid Power Management employees are encouraged to donate blood to the Carter Blood Care once every two months. RPM even provides paid time-off for this donation.
